Lakhiwal or Lakhiwal Sharif is a village and union council 72 of Sahiwal Tehsil, Sargodha District, Pakistan.〔(Tehsils & Unions in the District of Sargodha - Government of Pakistan )〕 It is located at 31°59'8N 72°18'30E〔(Location of Lakhiwal - Falling Rain Genomics )〕 and lies on the river belt of the Jhelum River. It is known for its very greenery and Khajoor, which is very common in this area. Its population amounts to about 3500 people (1998). Lakhiwal Sharif is a Sufi spiritual centre of the Punjab; it contains the shrine of the Sufi saint Syed Muhammad Afzal Shah and Syed Ahmad Anwar Shah Hamdani and of their descendants. Former saints are ancestors of saadat-e-hamdania living in Lakhiwal sharif. Sajada Nasheen Darbar Lakhiwal Sharif is Syed Ali Shah Sultan Bilawal Hamdani (Syed Muhammad Afzal Shah Hamdani) & Syed Muhammad Siraj-ul-haq Hamdani(Syed Ahmad Anwar Shah Hamdani). Saadat Hamdania's(Lakhiwal Sharif) history can be traced back to 14th century when Syeds migrated from Hamdan in Iran and settled down here. They are descendants of Shah-e-Hamdan Syed Ali Hamdani, an Islamic scholar and sufi saint and Syed Shah Sultan Bilawal Hamdani of Danda Shah Bilawal(CHAKWAL), also a Sufi.
